Nicole Ari Parker, an American actress who has appeared in film and television as well as on stage, is most well-known for her role as Teri Joseph, a flamboyant lawyer in the show the show on Showtime called Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe is her new name after she married. She was born and raised in Baltimore Maryland. As young, she demonstrated the desire to act. Contractor Born in Mumbai in India she was raised in Nigeria up until she turned seven. She was already exposed to many different travels and other cultures since a young age. After attending boarding schools during seven years of London the family moved to Toronto Canada where she spent most of her youth and into early adulthood. In Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics and trained as an classical ballerina. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, a school of the arts which focuses on dance and theater. Contractor was just 16 when she realized that acting was going to become her profession. Dance was her passion for almost 10 year. When she graduated from high-school, she was offered a full scholarship for tuition to University of Toronto where she was a theatre student with a dual degrees in Sociology and Psychology. Contractor was a participant in the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After a full year of auditions, she was offered the leading role. The year 2002 was a great one for her. Canadian critics praised her performance during 92 performances of the play. Contractor was given the chance to take part in the conservatory, where only eight males and four females are selected for a 20-week crash course in classical theatre, which she was eager to take. Contractor was offered a spot for the following season. She was also offered the part as Hermia.
